Did you know that we have another dog other than Maggie? Well, we do. Her name is Gracey. She is a Weimaraner that Jeremy got as a gift in college. She has such a great heart and loves, loves, loves to be around other people and dogs. However, if you know anything about this breed, you know that they are hyper beyond belief. That means Gracey requires lots of exercise and attention. I hate to admit it, but Jeremy and I don't give her much of either, especially now with Addisen. It breaks my heart to know that we have this dog who needs room to run and play kept in a portion of our yard.
Why do I bring this up? No, it is not "show your dog how much you love them" day. Apparently, Gracey hates when it rains because today marks the 3rd time Gracey has escaped. The first time our next door neighbor brought her back when Gracey tried to jump into her car. Yikes! Then the day after that, my father-in-law (who is a vet) calls to tell us know that Gracey has escaped because his clinic got a call from the Good Samaritan who let her stay overnight at his place.
This morning, the clinic calls yet again. Apparently Gracey broke through yet another board in the fence and wandered toward a busy street. Not good. One person found her and called the pound. Thank goodness another angel of a neighbor recognized Gracey (apparently she and her dog say "hi" to Gracey along the fence on their walks) and knew where she belonged.
My poor husband had to take off work today to buy materials to repair the fence for the 3rd time. I am pretty much useless.
I am really, really, really against giving up dogs. My parents taught me that once you start something, you finish it. Plus, I am permanently scarred from the pound scenes in the move The Lady and the Tramp. However, I know it is unfair to Gracey. How I would love to give her to a loving home with a large yard where she could run around and play. So now Jeremy and I get to discuss our options. If you have any input or suggestions, please let us know.
